My Story
In my early years at around age 7, I remember having my first piece of art displayed at the Country Market that was across the street from our Elementary School. As I got older I enjoyed helping my teachers decorate their classrooms and bulletin boards, hoping to someday follow in their footsteps. As I aged I took my art more seriously, discovering fine art in High School. My fabulous art teacher fed a passion in me to teach. Life happened, marriage, parenting and college. But that passion reignited as a young mom and I began my career in my late 20’s. While teaching Kindergarten I decided to incorporate open ended art into my curriculum and fed many little artists for over 35 years as an early childhood educator.
I have a fondness for watercolor for its softness and feel it’s a peaceful medium. Watercolor seems to have a mind of its own and challenges me to explore it’s capabilities. I may sketch an idea and test the medium but I love how manipulating the pigment with water and other techniques can turn nothing into something.
While I loved young children, I was blessed with the opportunity to teach a Watercolor Conservatory Class to high school seniors as well as 2-D Art and Wet Mediums to 7th and 8th graders at California School of the Arts, San Gabriel Valley. I thoroughly enjoy being able to guide and help others as they discover their inner artist, igniting their own passion and gaining a sense of mastery. As a juried member of the Monrovia Association of Fine Arts I was able to display my paintings in businesses as well as fairs and art walks. I continue to paint and teach primarily watercolor because so many have expressed a love for it, yet fear of its unforgiving nature.
That’s where I come in! I help them overcome their apprehensions as they see the magic happen on paper! I’d love to help you as well! Or, allow me the privilege to create a unique painting to adorn your walls in your home or office.
Psalm 111:2 says, “Great are the works of the Lord, they are studied by all who delight in them.” As our God is the Master Artist, I hope to be able to traject His creation on paper for others’ to take joy in and feel His peace.
What's your story?
I had a wonderful day whale watching on the Pacific with my sister and nieces. This little dolphin was painted to hold on to a fabulous memory of my windswept hair! I've never seen such a huge pod of entertainment! What memory may I capture for you?
